The college that I want to be in is University of Nebraska Omaha. I want to be in this university because my older sister attended there and she really like this university. I'm pretty much following her foot steps through schools that she went to. But my older sister has not finished college because she has missed 2 or 3 years of college at different times. I am attending to graduate college and stay in college for 4 or 5 years and not miss any years of it.
This is important to me because my older sister showed my family bad leadership. So my entire family thinks that I will be like my older sister and miss college. But I want to prove them wrong and show them that I'm not like my older sister. I want them to see that I can be successful in my life and that I have a good career. I also want them to see that I can graduate college without missing any years.
It is important that I get a degree from UNO, because it shows that I graduated from that college. It also will show my family that I got a degree from a university and shows them that I was serious about what I wanted to do. But it will make my sister proud that I went to college and that I didn't do the same things that she did through her college years. Also the degree will show jobs that I went through college and learned more about the career. It will make it better for me because that job that I apply will most likely be my dream job that I want in the future.

Someone who impacted my life
A person that has impacted me in my life was my older sister Jennifer Vong. She has been there to support me through events and be there for me when I really needed it. She showed me how to do stuff in school like math, science, English, and etc. But she taught me stuff that made me to be a better person till today. She told me the only way that I will get respect is if I give respect to someone. She was the person who taught me to be the person that I am now.
My sister was the first one to graduate from a high school and get into a college in my family. She pretty much made my family and I proud of her and she had everything figured out in life that she wanted. Till this day I see her every once in a while but she always seems to be busy with her own life. Also when my family was having a hard time, my older sister always seemed to make people smile and cheer up. But this experience will impact me through college life some how.
This experience will impact me in college some how by me setting a goal for myself to be like my older sister. I know when I get into college I will eventually figure out what I want to do with my life like my sister's. Also I will be positive like my sister and be up beat and cheer whenever there is a disaster that comes my way. Plus it will show her and my family that I can graduate from high school and get into a college just like Jennifer. This will set a goal for me because of what a sister did and how she accomplished it.

My First Week as a College Student
The first week of my college life was so far good. I like the campus because there are so many places to go and chill with people. This really encouraged me because it helped me get use to the place and get to know some more people. But the only challenging part of this is trying to get to class on time. This campus is really big, but the buildings are kind of close.
So far what I learned about myself, for being here on the campus is that I feel more open and I have more responsibilities. Because here on the campus we have to get to class on time and there is no one who will tell you to get to class. Also people that I know who drive to this campus have a hard time trying to find a parking before there class here at UNO. Also the class that I am taking is kind of hard because we have to read about 30-35 pages in a textbook and take a quiz over it. But see I'm a person who doesn't like to read. So I learned that I am improving on my reading skills.
There has been experience that I had that is different from UNO. Like for high school I experienced that teachers told you if you had a quiz to make up. But now since being here at UNO I experienced that teachers here they don't tell you to make up a quiz. But this made a positive impact on me because now I know what it is like to be here at college. So when I do graduate from high school and go into college I'll know what to expect.

Residence Life with Summer Scholars
While living here at the Scott Residence Hall for five days it was a great experience. I met a lot of people in the same grade as me and built new friendships. On the first and second day of this program we went to Carol Joy Holling in Ashland. What we did in Ashland was really fun, we went on high wires and at Carol Joy Holling they had two different courses one was an individual one and the other was the teamwork high wires. The first one that I went on was the individual and the individual required me to trust in people that I was grouped with and what they had to do was to make sure to hold on the a rope that I was attached and so if I fell, I wouldn't fall to the ground.
Now, the second course that I went on was the teamwork high wire course. This one was were we had to work as a team to get across an obstacle course. I really enjoyed this one because I worked with people didn't know too well and after doing this course I learned a lot from the people that I was with. What we did on this course was walk on wires, build a bridge, balance out a bridge and sing a song while balancing it out, and go down a zip line. The most favorite one that I liked was going down the zip line.
Finally, after the rest of the stay in the residence hall I had to do other stuff out of this program and it was going to cheer practice. I had to make a commitment to it and the advisor understood that I had to leave and go to the practice, but I really regret leaving to go to practice and missing out on something that we had to do in this program. I missed something that I really wished I didn't miss because it was talking about my UNO e-mail account and how to access other things. But other stuff that we did in the residence hall was that we had an outdoor activity and we had a water balloon fight, sand volleyball, hula hoops to play with, frisbee, and got chalk to draw things on the side walk. Also we had a movie night where we all watched a movie together. The movie that we watched was called "North Country" this movie was very interesting and the movie taught us something.
